Traditional economies do not use
money
as a medium for trade.
Before money was even created, they followed the Barter system. But nowadays countries even buy stuff on loan.

Traditional economies
do not use money or currency
as a medium for trade.
Instead, such economies would use barter as the main medium for trade. This means that people would simply exchange goods for goods, without using money.
