if a number is right beside a variable ( called the coefficient) and you want to isolate the variable, you have to divide both sides by the coefficient -12b = 9 -12b / -12 = 9/-12 b= -9/12 to simplify b =-3/4 You can easily turn that into decimal form or percent form -3/4= -0.75 = -75%

Get b by itself by dividing both sides by -12

b = -3/4
