2. Does Mark Twain seem to believe that people can change for the better?

Explain the answer please

He does not believe that people can change for the better. He is in general known as someone who makes fun of those sentimental humanitarian ideals, and is usually realistic about human behavior. Even when he tries being a sentimentalist and when you think someone is going to do something positive, it usually backfires and something bad happens.
