A container of oxygen with a fixed volume has a pressure of 13.0atm. at temperature of 20 °C what will the pressure of the oxygen be if the container is heated to 102 °C ? A.)12.4atm B.)15.4atm C.) 16.6 atm D.) 18.6atm

You must follow the Gay-Lussac law of gases but, and this is extremely important, using temperature in Kelvin scale:


(P_1)/(T_1) = (P_2)/(T_2)\ \to\ P_2 = (P_1\cdot T_2)/(T_1) = (13\ atm\cdot (102 + 273)\ K)/((20 + 273)\ K) = \bf 16.64\ atm

The correct answer is C) 16.6 atm.
