The Industrial Revolution paved the way for many people to put up businesses and employ workers. The sudden surge of poverty in the labor force and the wealth obtained by owners created a large disparity among the classes. Those who did not support this idea turned to a political ideology that would abolish these social classes.

The Industrial Revolution also brought forth unsafe and bad working conditions to its workers. This is the reason why socialist movements rallied for the rights and well-being of the working class.
