How do you calculate elapsed time?

Elapsed time is the amount of time taken in order todo a certain action. For example, i you were to set off for school at exactly 9:00am and arrive back at 3pm, then you would have been at school for 6 hours. In other words, the elapsed time was 6 hours.

count forward on a clock.
if you started cleaning at 9:00 and finished at 5:00 the elapsed time would be 8 hours.
elapsed time is the time that passes from the start of an activity to the end of an activity.
