if the width of a rectangular exercise mat was 6 meters and you add 2 more meters which would be 8 meters. what is another name for the shape of this exercise mat? explain how you know

I will assume that the dimensions of the rectangle are

Length is 8 meters

width is 6 meters

so

the rectangle is 6 m x 8 m

If you add 2 meters to the width

we have

W=6+2=8 meters

The figure is now a square

because the length is equal to the width

Part 2

melissa has enough paint to cover an area of 250 square feet. she wants to paint to walls. the rectangular wall is 9ft high and 20ft wide. the square wall has a height of 9 feet. does melissa have enough paint to cover the area of both walls? can you show me how to work this?

step 1

Find out the area of both walls

rectangular wall

A=(9)*(20) ------> A=180 ft2

Square wall

A=(9)^2 ------> A=81 ft2

Add the areas

A=180+81 =261 ft2

step 2

Compare the total area with the 250 square feet

261 ft2 > 250 ft2

that means

Melissa has not have enough paint to paints the walls
