Literature is so difficult to read because overtime the meaning of words has changed. They way we talk, they way we write, etc has shifted because some things from the past mean something different now. An example of this would be heartburn now it means that a pain in your heart from possibly to much grease, back then it was a way to describe jealousy. My underdstanding of literature changed because I had more knowledge and I learned what the old ways of literature once was. I believe over time, people grow and change, and when this happens, the language changed as well.
