4 - (x+2) < -3(x+4)

4 -1(x) -1(2) < -3(x) -3(4)
4 - x - 2 < -3x -12
+3x +3x
2 + 2x < -12
-2 -2
2x < -14
÷2 ÷2
x < -7

assume that x = -8

4 - (-8 + 2) < -3(-8 + 4)
4 - (-6) < -3(-4)
4 + 6 < 12
10 < 12 the inequality is true.
