x - a is divisor of f(x) if and only if f(a) = 0

f(x) = x^2 -1

linear binomial: x + 1

(x^2 - 1)/(x + 1) = (x + 1)(x - 1)/(x + 1) = x - 1
hence is a divisor

f(1) = 0
so it corroborates the reminder theorem
