Let x be the cost of a pretzels and y be the cost of a cup lemonade

From the first statement;

6x + 2y = 11 -----------------------------(1)

From the second statement;

2x + y = 4 -------------------------------(2)

We can go ahead and solve the two equations simultaneously

We will solve by elimination method

We will be eliminating y. To do that, multiply equation(2) by 2

4x + 2y = 8 ------------------------------------(3)

subtract equation (3) from equation (1)

2x = 3

divide both-side of the equation by 2

x= 1.5

substitute x=1.5 into equation(2) and solve for y

2(1.5) + y = 4

3 + y = 4

subtract 4 from both-side of the equation

y = 4- 3

y=1

Therefore;

the cost of a pretzels is $1.5 and the cost of a cup of lemonade is $1
