How is multiplying mixed numbers different than multiplying fractions?

multiplying fractions:
you have to multiple the numerator and the denominator to get your answers and it may,may not be a mixed fraction so you have to simplify it

multiplying numbers:
you get one straight answers,no decimals,no fractions
