Use the distributive property to get 10x+20=5x+40. Subtract 5x from both sides to get 5x+20=40. Subtract 20 from both sides to get 5x=20. Divide 5 from both sides to get x=4.
x=4

the answer is x=4. you have to use the distributive property on both sides then begin solving for x.
