The time it takes for an object stopped from a certain speed can be modeled by the equation

t=1/2 square root v, where v is the speed of object in meters per second. if it takes 3 seconds for the object to stop, what is the speed of object in meters per second?

Given:
t = 1/2 √v
v = speed of object meters per second

t = 3 seconds

3 = 1/2 √v
3 * 2 = √v
6 = √v
6² = √v²
36 meters = v

v = 36 meters per second
