The term which refers to the constitutional procedure for trying federal officials who is accused of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors is called impeachment. Impeachment is the process which the legislative bodies normally use to level charges against highly placed government officers. The charged official will be put on trial and he may be removed from his position at the end of the trial if found guilty.
