Why did Andrew Jackson choose a new running mate in the 1832 presidential election?

The Anti-Masonic Party attracted little attention outside of New York state and some portions of New England, but did manage to weaken Clay by siphoning off a number of anti-Jackson votes. Jackson's smashing victory in 1832 spelled the end for both the National-Republican and Anti-Masonic parties. They would later be reconstituted and join in the formation of the Whig Party.
