2x. Use variables. "X" is our variable. Bob has x brothers. If john has 2 times as many you multiply so it would equal 2x

Let, J = John and B = Bob
2J = B
Because you didn't give me a number we are making an expression
2J = b
Make J = 1
J = b/2
