Points A(x,y) and B are on the same straight line.

The x-coordinate of B is three times the x-coordinate of A.
The y-coordinate of B is four times the y-coordinate of A.
What is the gradient of the line in terms of X and y?

Answer:

Solution,

Let the coordinates of A and B be (x, y) and (3x, 4y) respectively.

Then, the gradient (Slope) of AB is given by:

m =
(4y-y)/(3x-x)

or, m =
(3y)/(2x)

This is the required gradient of the line in terms of x and y.
