20 - 3x = 2

Solving for x:

20 - 3x = 2

the 20 that is on the left side of the equality, we pass it to the righ side with minus sign:

-3x = 2 - 20

The -3 which is multiplying x on the left side, we pass it to the right side dividing:

x = (2 - 20)/(-3)

Doing the operations:

x = (-18)/(-3) = 6

x = 6
