I believe the answer is: a.caricature because that is the device that is taught in the lesson.

In Swift's tale of Gulliver's journey to the land of the Lilliputians, the device he used was b.) sarcasm. (However, I think 'satire' would be the better term). He mocks the English society at the time with his work - which is why sarcasm is the answer.
