$38.00 x 0.25= $9.50
$38.00 - $9.50= $28.75
$28.75 x 0.06= $1.725
$28.75 + $1.73= $30.48

Answer:

The total amount customer pays for the discounted book is $ 30.21 .

Explanation:

As given

A customer buys a different book that has an original selling price of $38.

The book is discounted 25%.

25% is written in the decimal form

=(25)/(100)

= 0.25

Discount amount = 0.25 × Selling price of the books

= 0.25 × 38

= $ 9.5

Cost of the books after getting discount of 25% = Selling price of the books - Discount amount

= $ 38 - $ 9.5

= $ 28.5

As given

The customer must pay a 6% sales tax on the discounted price of the book.

6% is written in the decimal form

= (6)/(100)

= 0.06

Sales tax amount = 0.06 × Cost of the books after getting discount of 25% .

= 0.06 × 28.5

= $ 1.71

Thus

Total amount pays by the customer for the books = Sales tax amount + Cost of the books after getting discount of 25%.

= $ 1.71 + $ 28.5

= $ 30.21

Therefore the total amount customer pays for the discounted book is $ 30.21 .
