We need to DIVIDE the 10 foot board into 1 2/3 ft pieces...

10 ÷ 1 2/3

convert 1 2/3 to an improper fraction..

1 2/3 = 5/3

so now we have

10 ÷ 5/3

divide fractions by multiplying the reciprocal of the divisor.

10 ÷ 5/3 =
10 × 3/5 =
30/5 =
6

She can cut 6 pieces.
