An object is held 33.5 cm from aconvex mirror. It creates a virtualimage of magnification 0.253.What is the image distance?(Mind your minus signs.)(Unit = cm)

We would apply the mirror formula which is expressed as

1/f = 1/u + 1/v

Where

f is the focal length

u is the object distance

v is the image distance

From the information given,

u = 33.5

magnification = 0.253

Since it is a convex mirror, f is negative

v would also be negative since the image is virtual

magnification = v/u

Thus,

0.253 = v/u

v = 0.253u

v = 0.253 x 33.5

v = 8.48

Since v is negative,

image distance = - 8.48 cm
