Points Y and Z are the same distance from point X on a number line. The coordinate of point X is 3 and the coordinate of point Y is –2.

What is the coordinate of point Z?

We know that point Y and Z are the same distance from X. If X=3 and Y=-2, then Y and X are 5 away on the number line (3 - -2 = 5).

Since we know that Y is five to left on the number line, then Z must be 5 to the right which would put point Z=8 (3 + 5 = 8).

Therefore the coordinate point of Z is 8.
