1. Reread “Will there really be a ‘Morning’?” on page 230 of your text. Why might Emily Dickinson have chosen to capitalize the words she did? Cite specific words and possible reasons for capitalizing.

First of all, Emily Dickinson knew German. The German language usually capitalizes nouns so she probably got influenced by it. Second, she capitalized words in order to put emphasis on such words. This could have a greater impact on the reader and puts certain focus on the words. The words she capitalized were Morning, Day, Water lilies, Bird, Sailor, Scholar, Wise Man, and Pilgrim.
