From the information given, John ran the 100-m dash with a time of 9.95 sec. This means that his speed is

100/9.95 = 10.05 m/s

If this speed is maintained, it means that the speed at which he ran 26 miles is

also 10.05 m/s

We would convert 26 miles to meters. Recall

1 mile = 1609.344 meters

26 miles = 26 x 1609.344 = 41842.944 meters

Time = distance/ speed

Thus, time taken to run 26 mile is

41842.944/10.05

= 4163.48 seconds

we would convert 4163.48 seconds to hours, minutes and seconds.

Recall, 1 hour = 3600 seconds. Thus

4163.48/3600 = 1.1565 hours.

We would convert 0.1565 hours to minutes. We have
