When you solve one of these questions, you should move all the variables to one side of the equation.
First, subtract 2 from both sides of the equation. You get 2a + 2 = 3a.
Now, subtract 2a from both sides of the equation. You get 2 = 1a, or 2 = a.
So a = 2.
Hope that helped you!
