if you mean
(7)/(8p) - (1)/(4)=(1)/(2p)
then multiply by p to give
(7)/(8)-(p)/(4)=(1)/(2)
then multiply by 8 to give
7-2p=4
subtract 7
-2p=-3
divide by -2
p=(3)/(2)

if you mean
((7)/(8))p-(1)/(4)=((1)/(2))
then multiply by 8 to give
7p-2=4p
subtract 4p
3p-2=0
add 2
3p=2
then divide by 3
p=(2)/(3)

hope that helps

(7)/(8)p-(1)/(4)=(1)/(2)p \\\\ (7p)/(8)-(1)/(4)^((2)=(p)/(2)^((4) \\\\ 7p-2=4p\\\\7p-4p=2 \\\\3p=2\\\\ \boxed{p=(2)/(3)}
