Why do we have 3 branches of government

Actually, we have 3 branches so that power is divided equally and nobody can become too powerful in the government. It also makes it easier for them to focus on a specific skill of goverment (such as lawmaking) instead of having to do them all

Hey~!

To answer your question, you probably already know we have the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive branches. Legislative designs laws, Judicial interprets the Constitution, and the Executive passes laws and enforces them. They are really the basic structure of our government, without them, we wouldn't have any organization or rules to help us get by. Hope I helped!
