Well the probability is 5/15 chance of a yellow marble and a 3/15 chance of a purple marble and if you add them both together it is an 8/15 chance

Hope it helped! If it did not help tell me in the comment box below!

Answer:

The probability that he selects a yellow marble or a purple marble is:

8/15

Explanation:

We are given that:

A bag contains 5 yellow marbles, 7 pink marbles, and 3 purple marbles.

Gordon selects a marble without looking.

we have to find the probability that he selects a yellow marble or a purple marble

P(yellow marble or purple marble)= number of yellow or purple marbles/ no. of marbles

= (5+3)/(5+7+3)

= 8/15
