We want to compare functions g(x) and f(x). We would find g(x) from the table. The general form of an exponential equation is expressed as

y = ab^x

where

a is the initial value

b is the growth or decay rate

From the table, when x = 0, y = 300

300 = ab^0

a = 300

when x = 1, y = 264

264 = 300b^1 = 300b

b = 264/300 = 0.88

Thus, the formula for g(x) is

g(x) = 300(0.88)^x

f(x) = 150(0.94)^x

Both functions represent decay because b < 1

Initial value of g(x) is 300 and initial value of f(x) is 150
