Do fossil fuels release carbon dioxide when burned?

Yes,

this is another way of making CO2, yet people should really stop using this as another resource for energy.

fossil fuels are another resource yet very expensive to obtain because of all the work, drilling and gas itself to get.

CO2 can also be turned back into OXYGEN through a process well known as PHOTOSYNTHESIS. this is the process when plants use sunlight to obtain energy, and "breath" in CO2 and "drink" water, and combine all of these to make two produces.

Glucose ((SUGAR))

O2 ((Oxygen))

and sometimes O3 ((OZONE))

yes when fossil fuels are burned they release the carbon dioxide locked inside of them
that is why fossil fuels are a big source of global warming and we will eventually run out of fossil fuels
