its 1.4 would be 14/10 which reduces down to 7/5 so its
1 and 2/5ths

So lets start off with:
4
tenths
4/10
1
shall be identically tantamount to
10/10.
10/10 + 4/10 = 14/10
Okay now it's time to simplify it:
14/10 = 7/5
The answer is
7/5
.
