The perimeter of a square is given. Write and solve an equation to find the length of each side of a square. 

1.P=36 in.
2.P=100 yd.

For a square, length and width are the same. 36=2l+2w, so 36=4l. Divide both sides by 4, and you get l=9, so each side in 9 inches.
100=2l+2w
100=4l
l=25
25 yards
