At Carter's birthday party his mom made a cake in a rectangular shape. The length of cake is 8 cm and width of cake is 6 cm. If she wants to add 1 cm of cream around the cake, what will be the perimeter and area of the rectangle cake?

The perimeter will be 36cm as length and bredth increases by 2cm. So the area will be 160cm^2.

Answer:

Perimeter of rectangular cake = 36 cm

Area of rectangular cake is 80 square cm.

Explanation:

Length of the cake = 8 cm

Width of cake = 6 cm

Since we are given that she wants to add 1 cm of cream around the cake

So, Length becomes: 8+1+1 =10 cm

Width becomes: 6+1+1= 8 cm

Perimeter of rectangular cake =
2(Length+Breadth)

=
2(10+8)

=
2(18)

=
36

Thus the perimeter of rectangular cake = 36 cm

Area of rectangular cake =
Length * Breath

=
10 * 8

=
80cm^2

Thus the area of rectangular cake is 80 square cm.
