y-1 = (4y)/(3) - (2)/(3)

Multiply both sides by 3 :

y*3-1*3= (4)/(3) *3 - (2)/(3) *3

3y-3=4y-2

Add 3 to both sides:

3y - 3 + 3 = 4 y -2 + 3

3y = 4y+1

Subtract 4 y from both sides:

3y-4y = 4y+1-4y

-y = 1

Divide both sides by -1 :

(-y)/(-1) = (1)/(-1)

y = -1

hope this helps!
