A quarter is 1/2 of 1/2 so half of 8 is 4 and half of 4 is 2 so she ate 2 pieces and charlotte ate 3 so 3+2=5 then subtract this from the starting amount 8-5=3 so there are 3 pieces of pizza left

A quarter is 1/4. A quarter of 8 is 2. Therefore, Charlotte ate 2 pieces. Martina ate 3 pieces. You add these together to get 5 pieces eaten. 8-5 is 3 pieces left.
