According to a book entitled Nutrition by Insel et al., a claim that describes the potential effect of a food, food component, or a dietary suplement is a Structure/function claim. This type of food claim may be statements which has a benefit related to a nutrient related deficiency disease. These claims is valid as long as it does not claim to diagnose, cure, treat or prevent an illness. Commonly, structure/function claims are stated like "helps promote" or "as an energizer".
