3t-7=5t \\ \\ -7 = 5t - 3t \\ \\ -7 = 2t \\ \\ - (7)/(2) = t \\ \\ t = - (7)/(2) \\ \\

The answer is: t = -7/2 or t = -3.5.

3t - 7 = 5t

Subtract 3t from each side: - 7 = 2t

Divide each side by 2 : - 3.5 = t
