Let

The total amount is:

`=x+12`

The amount of butterfat equation is:

`1\%\text{ of }x+4\%\text{ of }(12)=2\%\text{ of }(x+12)`

Solve for "x"

`\begin{gathered} (1)/(100)x+(4)/(100)*12=(2)/(100)*(x+12) \\ \\ 0.01x+0.04*12=0.02(x+12) \\ \\ 0.01x+0.48=0.02x+0.024 \\ \\ 0.02x-0.01x=0.48-0.24 \end{gathered}`

Then the value of "x" is:

So, x=24 liters
