"After enslaving native populations, European colonists often imported enslaved from African countries for forced labor on sugarcane plantations".

European nations imported slaves to work on the platations. The slave trade was carried through ships where the negroes were transported in an inhuman way, chained and without proper feeding. Blacks who came alive The colonies were forced to work on the plantations during exhausting routines.

I don't know what your options are, but what happened was that the Europeans brought Africans from Africa on ships to the New World to work on the slave plantations - so "Africans" is in any case a good answer. Many of those Africans did not survive the journey.
