Kim surveyed 80 students at her school and found that 0.65 of the students she surveyed said their favorite class is math. Another 15% of the students she surveyed reported that their favorite class is science. How many more students in the survey prefer math over science?

what you do is multiply .65 by 80 which gives you 52 students. Then you make 15% into a decimal( .15) and also multiply it by 80 which gives you 12 students. Finally you subract 12 from 52 which is 40. The answer is 40 students.

Answer:

40 more students in the survey prefer math over science.

Explanation:

Kim surveyed 80 students at her school and found that 0.65 of the students she surveyed said their favorite class is math.

This becomes 0.65\times80=52 students said their favorite class is math.

Another 15% of the students she surveyed reported that their favorite class is science.

Means
0.15*80=12 students said that their favorite class is science.

Now to know how many more students in the survey prefer math over science we can do :

52-12=40

Therefore, 40 more students in the survey prefer math over science.
