A cylinder has a height of 16 cm and a radius of 5 cm. A cone has a height of 12 cm and a radius of 4 cm. If the cone is placed inside the cylinder as shown

then find the volume not used

find volume of each and subtract the volume of cone from volume of cylinder

volume of cylnder=hpir^2
volume of cone=(1/3)hpir^2

cylinderh=16
r=5
V=16*pi*5^2
V=16*pi*25
V=400pi


cone
h=12
r=4
V=1/3(12)pi(4^2)
V=4pi16
V=64pi


cylinder-cone=400pi-64pi=336pi


the volume of enpty space is 336pi cm^3 or aprox 1055.04 cm^3
