First you would find the length of the opposite and adjacent side of the triangle, which would be 8 and 9.

Then you would find the area of the triangle.

Right triangle area = Opposite * adjacent / 2

So 8 * 9 / 2 = 36

Then subtract the white area which is 5*2=10 out of the area of the triangle

36 - 10 = 26

26 = shaded area of triangle
