In peas, yellow seed color (Y) is dominant to green seed color (y). A homozygous green pea plant is crossed with a heterozygous yellow pea plant. What is the predicted phenotypic ratio of the offspring? 50 percent yellow, 50 percent green

50 percent Yy, 50 percent yy
100 percent yellow, 0 percent green
100 percent Yy, 0 percent yy

50% green 50% yellow since the capital letter wims over the lower case. Punnet squares make things a lot easier

Answer:

The correct answer is 50 percent yellow, 50 percent green

Genotype of plant with green seed color = yy

Genotype of plant with yellow seed color = Yy (as it is provided that the plant is heterozygous)

Gametes produced by plant with green seed color = y and y

Gametes produced by plant with yellow seed color = Y and y

Offspring would be Yy, Yy, yy, and yy.

Hence, 50% of the offspring would bear yellow seeds and rest 50% would bear green seeds.
