Volume (sandbox)= long x wide x tall

long=4 1/2 ft=(4+1/2) ft=(8+1)/2 ft=9/2 ft
wide=1 5/8 ft=(1+5/8)ft= (8+5)/8 ft=13/8 ft
tall=1 1/2 ft= (1+1/2)ft=(2+1)/2 ft=3/2 ft

Volume=9/2 ft * 13/8 ft * 3/2 ft=(9*13*3) / (2*8*2) ft=351/32 ft³

351/32 ft³=(10*32 + 31)/32 ft³=10 + 31/32 ft³=10 31/32 ft³.

Answer:351/32 ft³ or 10 31/32 ft³

volume=legnth times width times height
convert all to iimporper fractions first for ease
1 and 1/3=1+1/3=3/3+1/3=4/3

1 and 5/8=1+5/8=8/8+5/8=13/8

4 and 1/2=4+1/2=8/2+1/2=9/2

multiply them
volume=(4/3) times (13/8) times (9/2)
volume=(4 times 13 times 9)/(3 times 8 times 2)
volume=468/48
volume=39/4
volume=9 and 3/4 cubic feet
