4 : 8
which is 1 : 2

4m:8m
treat as fraction to simplify
4m/8m=(2 times 2 times m times 1)/(2 times 2 times 2 times m)=(2/2) times (2/2) times (m/m) times (1/2)=1 times 1 tiems 1 times 1/2
ratio is 1:2
