Why did the American public mostly oppose joining the league of Nations after World War I

America had already experienced success through isolationist policies, and wanted to remain isolationist following the war.  Although many Americans supported the creation of the LoN, many disapproved of Americans joining it as the public and Senate feared that it would involve the country in overseas conflicts that were avoidable.
