We need to write an example of a situation in which the Distributive Property could be used.

The Distributive Property is : a ( b + c ) = ab + ac

So, let we have two classes, the first class 20 students , the second class 10 students

We gave each student 3 sweets, so what is the number of total sweets ?

Answer using Distributive Property will be as following :

The number of sweets =

3\cdot(20+10)=3\cdot20+3\cdot10=60+30=90

Answer without using Distributive Property :

The number of sweets =

3\cdot(20+10)=3\cdot30=90

====================================================

Note: the Distributive Property is more helpful in case of the equations contains variable

For example : 3 ( 2x - 1 ) = x + 2
