x + 14 = 4
take 14 to the other side to isolate x
x + 14 - (14) = 4 - (14)
x = -10

to solve, you need to get the variable by itself. Do this by subtracting 14 from both sides.
X +(14 - 14) = 4 - 14
Solve this now, so it is
X+ (0) = -10
X= -10
The answer is -
10
